Basic to beautiful: how your DIY can produce the best

Are you a DIY guy?
Do you want to go from producing basic woodworks to something beautiful and professional like?
If you are or want to be a good Wood Worker and do wonderful things, there are 7 ways to get the Most out of your Router Table.
The First is:
Be sure to buy the right router.
The multitude of choices can make you very confused.
The Router is one of the most versatile Power Tools in a woodworking shop.
To the question: what type? It is difficult to give the right answer.
It depends on the type and complexity of the task you want to perform, how often you do it, the materials you use etc...
They are classified depending on Power, Variable Speed, Electronic speed control, dust collection, handles...
But then, what to choose?
I guess quality pays the difference.
A low cost router makes good sense if you use it only a few times a year, but many begin as amateurs and become pro and so they need a router that can do more demanding tasks.
But in any case if you really want good results with the minimum of efforts it pays to choose a good brand like Black&Decker which can guarantee the longest experience in delivering good and efficient tools at competitive prices.

The Dilemma of Life: do I (buy) or don't I?

Finance is definitely an important part of our life. It’s impossible to be an effective person without being effective in our finance.

One of the main issue in finance is determining whether to spend or not. This is an important issue to consider. Spending money on something unnecessary is wrong, but not spending money on something necessary is equally wrong.

The point is: how can you decide what you need or you don't?
Sometimes we see as need things we don't.
Example: my mother smokes. She sees cigarettes as a more urgent need than food. But THEY are NOT a NEED.

With the rising popularity of frugal lifestyle (which is promoted by many big blogs, among others), more and more people tend to consider the issue in only one aspect, that is in not spending the money. Of course, frugal lifestyle is a good thing since overspending is a problem faced by many people. However, it might go too far. People may end up choosing not to spend on something which indeed is necessary.

Sometimes we tend to be quite positive when it comes to us, but I think that very often we buy things that not only we do not need, but that add burdens to our life...

Since many people already write about not spending, here I’d like to take the opposite side to keep a balanced view. If something is necessary, you should spend the money.
Let's say, if we really FEEL the need for something we shouldn't ALWAYS frustrate ourselves and deny it to us...
Like food. A good diet is made of good trasgressions.

Of course, necessary is a tricky word. Everyone can give their own meaning to this word.

To determine whether or not something is necessary, I think we should go back to our life purpose. By referring to our life purpose, we could assess the value of something. Is it really valuable according to our life purpose? Does it help us live a life that matters?

Sometimes there are things which may seem expensive in the beginning, but they could actually help us a lot in achieving our life purpose. For example, maybe part of our life purpose is having deep relationship with our family. In some occasion, it may mean spending more on something to give unforgettable experience to our family. It may seem expensive in the beginning, but after taking our life purpose into account, we would realize that it is well worth it.

If you are still overspending, of course you should think more about not spending. But if you are joining the frugal lifestyle (which is a good thing I personally recommend), just be careful not to go too far. Sometimes it is wrong not to spend.

In principle a good life is the one you do what you like to do.
And a good lifestyle is the one in which you like to do the things you can ACTUALLY afford to do.
Happiness is in wanting what you can have and reach, not unreachable goals.
And not in having what you like, but liking what you have.
May be this is the secret...

Can you avoid cancer being happy?

YOUNG women exposed to tragic events may be at a higher risk of breast cancer and being optimistic can help protect against the disease, a study has found.

A team of researchers say they may have found a link between a women’s outlook on life and the risk of breast cancer.

After questioning more than 600 women – include 255 breast cancer patients – about life experiences, happiness and depression, researchers found optimists were 25 per cent less likely to develop the disease.

Women who suffered two or more traumatic events in their life, such as losing a loved one, had a 62 per cent greater risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer, the research said.

“Young women who were exposed to a number of life events, should be considered as a risk group for breast cancer and treated accordingly,” the researchers said.

“We can carefully say that experiencing more than one meaningful life event is a risk factor for breast cancer among young women.

“On the other hand, general feelings of happiness and optimism can play a protective role against the disease.”

The researchers, from Israel’s Ben-Gurion University of Negev, said the relationship between behaviour and the central nervous, hormonal and immune systems has yet to be fully understood.

Their study was published in British medical journal BMC Cancer .

Smart Animals

In the late 1800s a German high school mathematics instructor named Wilhelm Von Osten had the idea that intelligence, character and personality were based on the shape of a person’s head. So, to test his wacky theory he decided to teach a cat, a bear and a horse, maths.

Hans, an Arab stallion, showed real promise in the classroom and with some extra tuition, when Osten would write a number on the blackboard Hans was able to tap out the correct number with his hoof. He could count all the way up to ten, which by today’s maths standards really is something.

Unfortunately, Osten’s theory was eventually discredited when they discovered Hans the horse was just reacting to his master tapping on the board.

Eight-year-old African grey parrot, N’kisi hit the news headlines a few years ago for being able to use words in context and verbs with past, present and future tenses. N’kisi is also able to use other words to phrase a sentence when he can’t quite think of the right one – he will say things like ‘pretty smell medicine’ to describe aromatherapy oils used by his owner and is also reported to have a great sense of humour.

Apparently, when another parrot hung upside down from its perch, N’kisi joked, “You gotta put this bird on camera.” And, on meeting revered primatologist Dr Jane Goodall after seeing her pictured with apes, he greeted her with, “Got a chimp?”

That’s, as they Yogi used to say, smarter than the average bear.

Made famous by 1960s sitcom, Mister Ed, this clever talking horse is probably the most famous of all the talking animals. The idea for the show was taken from a short story by Walter R Brooks, Ed Takes the Pledge. The US sitcom ran for an astounding seven years, so is the love of ours for talking animals.

How to teach a whale to talk

Scientists in Japan have given a beluga whale a vocabulary of three words, the first time a marine creature has been able to link a sound to an object and then repeat the sound as a 'word'.

Nack, a 23-year-old beluga whale at the Kamogawa Sea World aquarium in Chiba Prefecture, has been taught to make different noises for a bucket, diving goggles and a pair of diving fins, said Takashi Murayama, a professor at Tokai University who has been training the creature for the last five years.

"Beluga whales are very intelligent, friendly and they enjoy being trained in this way," he said.

"Right now Nack only knows three words, but we are working on the whale recognising different people and giving them a sound as well.

"After that, we want to teach it to express likes and dislikes, something that is interesting instead of boring, and be able to say if something is painful," he said.

Nack gives off short, high-pitched sounds to identify the diving fins, a long, higher-pitched note for the goggles and a short, lower tone for the bucket.

When the sounds are played back into the water, the whale is able to understand the noise and identify the object.
