Internet: Free Information

Free Flow of Information Should Be At Core of Internet Governance

At the close of the Internet Governance Forum in Rio de Janeiro this week, CDT joined other free expression advocates in warning that issues like "security" should not be used as justification for limits on online speech. While the Forum ended without specific action, states that systematically curb freedom of expression on the Internet were among the most vocal in criticizing current Internet governance. The joint statement also called on Internet companies operating in repressive countries to protect freedom of expression.
