There was a time when we depended on the infrared to transfer content from one gadget to another, that is till Bluetooth and WiFi came into the scene. They delivered us from failed transfers and slow speeds. However going back to the roots is Japanese firm KDDI R&D Laboratories, they have revamped the IR technology and claim that now the system manages to transfer files at 1GBps in lieu of the earlier 4Mbps. This rate is almost250 times faster than the old theoretical limit. Apparently with the new technology transfer failures are lesser too.
