RACCOLTA DI FIRME PER LE DIMISSIONI URGENTI DEL GOVERNATORE DELLA BANCA D'ITALIA ANTONIO FAZIO
LETTERA DA INVIARE AL PRESIDENTE DELLA REPUBBLICA
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Al signor Presidente della Repubblica
Carlo Azeglio Ciampi
Palazzo del Quirinale
00186 R O M A

What is freedom? What is progress? It is what we do not have in Italy.
We can say we have freedom and progress in a Nation when most people can have access to it.
Freedom is for nothing if your belly is empty.
Usually nice words affect more the brain than the stomach.
If in a country you have 20% of unemployed people and of the other 80% just a 10% can have access to progress, then THAT country is going backward.
What can you do with a vacuum cleaner if you cannot use it because you cannot afford the electricity bill?
What is you knowledge for if you cannot have access to the Internet because you cannot afford it or because there is no availabilty of lines where you live?
The possibilities for consumer empowerment extend beyond devices. These possibilities arise from the Internet’s open architecture, which allows consumers to freely interact with anyone around the globe.
Musicians and writers, who could never have landed a contract with a major record label or publisher, can find - or create - audiences for their work. Small town radio stations can reach people who have moved to the big city. E-Bay is another good example: gone are the days when each of us had only a small group of potential buyers for what we think is junk in our garages.
Somewhere, in the next state or the next continent, there are people who may very well want to buy that “junk” and pay us more than we ever dreamed for it.
The open internet has opened markets beyond the traditional geographic limitations.
But just for the Nations that are open to the Internet.
Italy is out.
Italians are out.
Apart from a small minority living in the big cities, most of the Italians are cut out of progress.
How do you plan to create jobs, if you deny progress?
How can the Italians compete, if they have no means to compete?
The situation is very much similar to the one we had not so many years ago with Mussolini.
Our soldiers were sent to fight to Russia, in the Russian winter, with PAPER SHOES!
And, what a shame, they lost!
How can the Italians compete with a dial up connection, no fixed IP, merchant accounts impossible to open and at prices which make the revenues obsolete!
But our FAZIO and his banks, have to keep the Monopoly.
Have to go on sucking and cheating!
Our Telecom still has the Monopoly even after the monopolies were declared finished from 1996.
Our ENEL has to keep the Monopoly and the highest price for energy in Europe.
And our politicians have the gut to shout WE ARE DOING WELL!
Who is doing well?
The politicians of course.

The main difference between English and Italian parliamentary institutions
We are all familiar with the basic difference between English and Italian parliamentary institutions.
We all realize that this main difference has nothing to do with national temperament, but stems from their seating plans.
The British, being brought up on team games, enter their House of Commons in the spirit of those who would rather be doing something else.
The British instinct is to form two opposing teams and let them debate until they exhaust themselves.
The House of Commons is so arranged that the individual Member is practically compelled to take one side or the other before he knows what the arguments are.
If the speaker is on his own side of the House, he will say: Hear, hear.
If he is on the opposite side he can safely say: Shame!
The men who sit opposite are entirely wrong, while the speeches of the men on his own side have a singular blend of wisdom, eloquence and moderation.
But the British System depends entirely on its seating plan.
If the benches did not face each other, no one could tell truth from falsehood, wisdom from folly, unless indeed by listening to it all.
In Italy the initial mistake was made of seating the representatives in semi-circle.
The resulting confusion could be imagined if it were not notorious.
Instead of having two sides, one in the right and the other in the wrong, the Italians form a multitude of teams facing in all directions.
With the field in such confusion, the game cannot even begin.
Basically the representatives are of the right or the left according to where they sit.
But the semi-circular chamber allows of subtle distinctions between the various degrees of rightness and leftness.
One deputy is on the right of this, but on the left of that.
So, in the end, the final decision is decided by the votes of the centre bloc.
This would not happen in the House of Commons, where no such bloc is allowed to develop.
In nearly every matter of controversy to be decided by the will of people, we can assume that the people who will decide are members of the centre bloc.
Delivery of speeches is therefore a waste of time.
The one party will never agree and the other party has agreed already.

To Sandro
What can I say:
I cannot but agree.
The Pound is a good choice, worth more than the Euro, I think in the long term.
And this is important, in the case of such an investment, it is important to choose the right currency.
I immediately apply for an average shipment of let's say 1.500.000 pounds, if the price is good of course...
