With the click of a mouse...

I was invited to test the new kind of social media search:Spock.
The first word that came into my mind (strange...) was PayPerPost.
I immediately got the names of the management and employees of the company.
Quite interesting.
You can have more details about them clicking the name.
You can see the related people, news, web blogs or web sites, their professional profiles, you can claim your search results, or invite to Spock.
You can search people by name or by a "tag" consisting of a personal piece of information (some physical detail or likings or disliking, or their blog or anything in their profile).
These tags can be created by the person or by other Spock members. Opinions are created by voting for or against a tag (this includes pictures as well).
You can also find a person's other locations on the Web.
Till now nothing particularly new or exciting.
What I find interesting is the search by peculiar things like: lawyers in NY, or singers in London, or Michelangelo Buonarrotti.
But what does Spock really do?
It encourages feedbacks from everyone that is interested.
For example with voting, feedbacks, comments, and sharing of informations.
It connects people with links and combining different kinds of media in one place.
It is a website that connects friends encouraging them to share content and informations.
And it is also a databank of informations that you can search and use in an easy way.
Social computing has come a long way, certainly is here to stay, and will impact every aspect of our Internet life.
"We are entering a world where users can accomplish more with a click of a mouse than lawyers and bankers can do with threats of a lawsuit and angry phone calls to the chief executive".
And this website is certainly the place to click...
